He pointed out something that I’d never taken note of that Ephesians puts the subject of marriage between being filled with the Spirit and being clothed with the armor of God, satanic warfare. It’s interesting what I discovered in reading James Boice’s commentary on this portion of Scripture. If you’re a married individual, Satan wants to destroy you and your marriage. I believe, beginning all the way back in Genesis 3, that Satan attacked marriage and still attacks marriages today. I believe that there is a great satanic assault on marriage today. Man, our culture is corrupt and changing and opposing marriage, that’s for sure. We’re going to look at the subject of how do we have a happy and healthy marriage in a confused and corrupt, ever-changing culture. The truth is that when it comes to marriage-listen carefully-for best results, follow the Creator’s instructions. ![]() I kind of lose my sanctification just a little bit. ![]() Then, I start talking about whoever designed or made it and why it doesn’t work. I just look at the picture, and it usually doesn’t work out. I hate instructions, and I hate following the instructions. Have you ever bought an object and opened the box and it says, “For best results, follow the manufacturer’s instructions,” right? I know that sometimes I think about Christmas when I’m putting together toys for the kids (I used to have to put the toys together). 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. 31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies he who loves his wife loves himself. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church and He is the Savior of the body. ![]() 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
